Reliant Energy Torch Relay closes travels in Galveston before heading to Houston

In it's final stop before returning to Houston, the Reliant Energy Torch Relay traveled to Galveston. More than 35 torchbearers traveled through the Moody Gardens resort area. Galveston Parks and Recreation Director, Barbara Sanderson opened the ceremony. Bill Kreuger, a former Senior Games athlete and member of the Texas and National High School Basketball Hall of Fame as Texas' most-winning basketball coach, spoke along with Sanderson and Mario Rabago, Galveston Park Board of Trustees Executive Director. Galveston local athlete, Vicki Blythe, 56, carried the torch. Blythe will be competing in discus, javelin, and shot put at the National Senior Games. The flame will now return to Houston to officially light the 2011 National Senior Games cauldron.
